The year 2020 has gone far with five months and President Muhammadu Buhari has experienced some heartbreaking deaths.
Death is one among the horrible things a human can experience, irrespective of your status.
Loosing a loved one can be traumatizing which can cause a major emotional crisis. You experience bereavement, which literally means “to be deprived by death.”
However, no matter how painful death can get, it gives meaning to our existence because it reminds us how precious life is.
About five deaths were reported to hit President Buhari in less than two months- April-May, 2020.

Late Abba Kyari
The Chief of Staff(CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari, Apirl 17, died weeks after testing positive to the deadly coronavirus.
His death is reported to be one of the most heartbreaking deaths President Buhari has experienced as he is not just his CoS but a confidant and friend.
“Mallam Abba Kyari, who died on 17th April, 2020, at the age of 67 from complications caused by the Coronavirus, was a true Nigerian patriot. My loyal friend and compatriot for the last 42 years – and latterly my Chief-of-Staff – he never wavered in his commitment to the betterment of every one of us.” Buhari wrote to mourn Kyari.
President Buhari’s bodyguard, Lawal Mato, was reported to die April 21 after three years of struggling with diabetes.
The warrant officer died a few days after the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, died.
Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu quoted the president to describe the officer as “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.’’
Mato worked with Buhari for many years before he won the 2015 elections, and was restored to Mr Buhari as personal security by former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Alhaji Modu Sheriff
President Muhammadu Buhari lost his in-law, Alhaji Modu Sheriff April 23rd to an inferno that occurred in the early hours of morning.
Before his death, he was the Galadima of Dikwa and father of former governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff and national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
The President described the death of the father in-law to Halima, his daughter, as a personal loss to him,while praying to the almighty Allah to grant the soul of the departed eternal rest.
The presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu disclosed Mutari Dauda died May 8th, but did not state the cause of Dauda’s death.
Mutari Dauda is Malam Mamman Daura’s younger brother and his death according to the president is an “irreparable loss”.
“What we owe the dead are not tears, because our tears can’t bring them back, but what they deserve are our prayers. In this regard, my heart and prayers go out to all the family members and the Daura community as a whole over this irreparable loss.
“May Allah forgive his gentle soul and reward his goods deeds with aljanna. Amin,” prayed Buhari.
Ibrahim Dauda is President’s Buhari nephew who died May 30th, in Daura, Katsina State, after a prolonged illness.
His death was just few days apart from Mutari Dauda’s death.
Buhari while mourning him, said “I am deeply touched and devastated by the passing of yet another family member, a man who had demonstrated amazing kindness and honesty in all his dealings.”
