Following the postponement of Ex-Oyo State Governor, Mr Isiaka Ajimobi, his media aide has said that his burial would strictly be a family affair in line with COVID-19 safety protocol.

Tunji told newsmen that the burial would not hold on Friday and would strictly be a family affair.

Recall that Ajimobi died on Thursday at the age of 70 in a hospital in Lagos.
“With deep sadness and deep regret, but in total submission to the will of the Almighty Allah, we announce the transition of His Excellency, Sen. Ishaq Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi.
“The sad event occurred on Thursday after a brief illness. He was aged 70 years. Funeral details will be announced later,” he said.
The Street Journal had earlier reported that the funeral of the former Oyo Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, has been postponed.

His spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, told reporters at his Oluyole residence in Ibadan on Friday morning noting that the family would soon make an announcement of the burial programme.

He said that the burial would not hold on Friday as earlier scheduled, and that it would be strictly a family affair in line with existing safety protocol.
Tunji said: “The funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family but it will be observed privately so as to be in accordance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.”
He appealed to sympathizers, who have been thronging his residence, to continue following NCDC guidelines by washing their hands, using face masks and keeping social distancing, among others.

The corpse of the former Oyo Governor was deposited last night at Toks funeral Home, Alausa before he will be buried according to Islamic rites.

Although he was reported to have tested negative to COVID-19 before the lung surgery that he did not recover from, it has not yet been confirmed if he will be honoured with a state burial ceremony by Oyo State government due to COVID-19 procedures.

A stampede of Party loyalists and supporters have been trooping in and out of his Ibadan residence since the news of his death became known.

Mr. Isiaka Ajimobi, the 70-year-old, former governor of Oyo state, who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, has passed away following Coronavirus complications, finally died on Thursday.

He added that arrangement on the burial ceremony would be communicated later.
He has however announced that the burial would hold on Saturday, June 26, and would strictly be a family affair.
