The funeral of the former Oyo Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, has been postponed.
His spokesman, Bolaji Tunji, told reporters at his Oluyole residence in Ibadan on Friday morning noting that the family would soon make an announcement of the burial programme.
Tunji said: “The funeral arrangements will be announced soon by the family but it will be observed privately so as to be in accordance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines.”
Ajimobi died in a private hospital in Lagos on Thursday at 70.
The Street Journal had earlier reported that he was going to be buried today.
The corpse of the former Oyo Governor was deposited last night at Toks funeral Home, Alausa before he will be buried according to Islamic rites.
Although he was reported to have tested negative to COVID-19 before the lung surgery that he did not recover from, it has not yet been confirmed if he will be honoured with a state burial ceremony by Oyo State government due to COVID-19 procedures.
A stampede of Party loyalists and supporters have been trooping in and out of his Ibadan residence since the news of his death became known.
Mr. Isiaka Ajimobi, the 70-year-old, former governor of Oyo state, who had been on a life support machine since last Friday at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, has passed away following Coronavirus complications, finally died on Thursday.
