Mr. Chijioke Ugwueze, a member representing Isi-uzo Constituency in the Enugu State House of Assembly, is dead.
The death of the lawmaker came three days after the death of the Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Chief Patrick Omeje.
Confirming the sad development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, the immediate younger brother of the deceased, Mr. Ejike Ugwueze said his brother died of heart failure.
Ugwueze said that the late brother, who was 49 years old, was hypertensive before now and complained symptoms of malaria on Friday morning.
According to him, the late lawmaker was rushed to a private hospital in Enugu on Friday morning and was later transferred to Enugu state Teaching Hospital Parklane, where he died in the evening.
“My brother’s death was so painful and a great shock to the family. He has created a big vacuum that only God can fill. He is our breadwinner.
“We, the family members, are confused on where to start from because my brother died when we are still planning on how to bury our father, who is still in the mortuary and now Chijioke has joined him”, Ejike lamented.
Reacting to his death, one of his colleagues and member representing Enugu East Rural Constituency, Mr. Hillary Ugwu, described the death of Late Ugwueze as a ‘great loss’ to the seventh Assembly.
Ugwu said that the late lawmaker would be missed by his colleagues because of his contributions to the House and prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
The late Chijioke Ugwueze was the chairman of the House Committee on Transport prior to his death.
The Street Journal had earier reported that the senator representing Lagos East in the National Assembly, Senator Bayo Osinowo is dead.
He died on, June 15, 2020, in Lagos after battling Coronavirus complications for weeks at the age of 64.
The Lagos State House of Assembly was thrown into disarray following the news of his death.
His death was confirmed by a family member, the Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area, Mayor Dele Osinowo.
The Street Journal learnt that Senator Osinowo was placed under isolation to prevent further spread of the virus after he contracted it.
A member of the APC in his constituency has revealed that his relatives and party members were at the isolation centre to receive his body.
Another insider revealed that the senator would be buried today by 4 pm according to Islamic rites and prayers will be held in his honour.
Osinowo popularly called Pepperito was an All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker and a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly for 16 years.
The Street Journal had earl.ier reported that Biola Okoya, daughter of business mogul, Rasaq Okoya, is currently mourning the loss of her son, Ayodeji Akinwande Modupe-Johnson.
Ayodeji died on Friday, June 12 after a brief illness at the age of 24.
He was buried in Lagos on Sunday, June 14.
His funeral was officiated by popular Lagos pastor, Pst. Ituah Ighodalo who lost his wife, Ibidunni Ighodalo in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2020.
