Police arrest kidnap kingpin, rescue 14 female victims in Katsina

The Divisional Police Officer, DPO, for Dutsinma, Katsina state, CSP Muhammad Makama, Friday night, led ”Operation Puff Adder” to Kwantawama village, Dutsinma LGA of Katsina state, to arrest a notorious Kidnap kingpin and rescue 14 of his victims.

The Spokesman of the Katsina state Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, told newsmen through a press release, that the operation was spurred by a report that bandits numbering about 40, riding on motorcycles and armed with AK 47 rifles, attacked the village, kidnapped 14 women including children and rustled large number of domestic animals.

He said ’’The team chased after the hoodlums into the fringes of Rugu forest and engaged them in a gun duel and succeeded and dislodged the bandits, rescued all the kidnapped fourteen women, 30 cows,60 sheep and arrested one of the bandits later identified as Amadu Yusuf, aged 30yrs of Tudun village, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state. Investigation is ongoing’’.

In another development, the State Police Command have paraded 2 fraud syndicates who impersonated the Katsina Emirate Council to defraud important personalities (V.I.Ps), by sending text messages, introducing themselves as senior counselors of the Emirate council, and requesting them to send money as financial assistance to the emirate on behalf of the Emir of Katsina.

Command Spokesman, SP Gambo Isah who made the above disclosure while briefing newsmen, said the two men were arrested based on a tip off

He said ”the Command succeeded in smashing a notorious syndicate of fraudsters that specializes in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public through text messages under the guise of being senior counselors of the Katsina emirate council”

”Nemesis caught up with the duo of Kabir Mohammed Muktar, 42, of Piyanku, Opposite FMC Staff Quarters, Nasarawa state and Abdurrahman Sadiq, 45, of Sabon Gari Quarters, Ingawa Katsina state, who conspired and defrauded one Alhaji Bello Maigari, the Executive Secretary, National Lottery Trust Fund, of the sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200, 000:00K) and Senator Abubukar Yusuf Abubakar, the sum of thirty thousand naira (N30, 000:00)”

Some the personalities who might have fallen victim to the syndicates include; Professor Ango Abdullahi, Gen. Muhammadu Buba Marwa, Chairman Abdullahi Adamu Candido, Umaru Ajiya – NNPC Major M. K. Yusuf – Lagos and host of others.
