Oyo pays N800m counterpart funding for sanitation

Oyo State has approved payment of N800 million counterpart funding as contribution to the State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency.

Governor Seyi Makinde okayed online screening of pensioners in diaspora.

A bill was forwarded by the state to the House of Assembly on restructuring of the fire agency.

The agency is to be changed from a unit under the Ministry of Public Works and Infrastructure to a full agency in the Governor’s Office.

Commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism Wasiu Olatunbosun said the decisions were taken during the 21st State Executive Council Meeting at Agodi Government House in Ibadan after careful deliberations.

His Youth and Sports counterpart, Seun Fakorede, said: “The government approved N800 million as counterpart funding and contribution to the Oyo State Rural Water and Sanitation Agency. The counterpart funding is to attract N2,967,700,000 from the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

“This fund is to implement the partnership for expanded water supply, sanitation and hygiene in 20 of the 33 councils as contained in the Oyo State Investment Plan and submitted to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources.

“The project will work towards sustainable improvement of the water supply, sanitation and hygiene in urban small towns and rural areas to better serve the people’s needs.”
