There is tension in Zaki Biam town in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, following the alleged imposition of officials of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) by the council.
The Nation gathered that the tenure of the Ukum chapter of NULGE expired but rather than an election, some officials of the local government were hand-picked and sworn-in.
The decision, however, did not go down well with officials of Ukum local government who took to streets in a peaceful protest in Zakibiam town.
The angry union officials allegedly chased out local government workers from their offices, made a bonfire on major streets in Zakibiam town and closed the offices. There was tension in the town as unions vowed not to recognise the imposed officials.
