Elegushi to partner Oniru on development

By Tajudeen Adebanjo

The Elegushi of Ikate Oba Saheed Elegushi has pledged to work with  stakeholders to ensure its real estate continues to be conducive for living.

Oba Elegushi spoke when he received the Oniru of Iruland, Oba Abdulwasiu  Lawal.

He said having peaceful and prosperous communities was the responsibility of all, and as kings they would be in the forefront.

The monarch said with the ascension and coronation of Oba Lawal, there would be development in Iru and Ikate and other areas making up the council.

He hailed the prospect of working with an experienced public official and development expert as Oniru.

Oba Lawal said he was at Elegushi’s palace to thank the monarch and people of Ikate for the love and support shown him during the process of his ascension and coronation as 15th Oniru.

He said their support helped in simplifying the process.

Oba Lawal said his visit  was historic as his late father, former Ojora of Lagos Chief Taoreed Akanni Lawal-Akapo joined the last Elegushi of Ikate, Oba Yekini Adeniyi Elegushi, in a dance during the former Elegushi’s coronation over two decades ago.

Fate, he said, made him and Saheed kings, having worked together for Lagos State government.

He noted that for them to achieve prosperity, they need support from the people of Eti-Osa.

Oba Lawal said both kingdoms would enjoy a shared vision, mutual respect and understanding.
