Five dead, eight injured in Ondo crash

Five persons were on Tuesday confirmed dead and eight injured when a bus collided with a truck on Owo-Akure Expressway, Ondo State.

Ahmed Hassan, Ondo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash happened on Sunday.

According to him, the crash was caused by speed violation, which led to the drivers’ loss of control of the vehicles.

“On September 13 at about 09.23hrs, two vehicles were involved in an accident at Emure in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hassan said.

“A total of 13 people were involved in the crash which resulted in the death of five persons on the spot while eight others sustained leg and head injuries.

“The victims were taken to Federal Medical Center (FMC), Owo, while the bodies were deposited at the centre’s morgue.”
