I turned to producing after failed acting ambition – Felix Olojede

By Sampson Unamka

Felix Olojede, a film producer and director has revealed how a failed acting ambition turned him into a filmmaker.  Olojede, who is the producer of Woli Arole’s “The Call,” explained how his inability to make a career in acting forced him to get into production.

“I joined the church drama group to help me brush up my acting skill. Acting has been my dream right from secondary school and I intended to study Theater Arts at the university level because I had the dream of becoming an actor. I also used to go to different churches to do a one-man performance on stage,” he began.

Continuing, Olojede said, “Initially, I wanted to be a director and a producer but you cannot be a director or a producer in a day. You have to start from the lower rank. So I started as a PA with 2020 where we shoot ‘Everyday People’, ‘One Love’ among others. Also I started putting my eyes on sound. Then I started as a Sound operator till 2011 when I got the opportunity to work with Super Sports as a Live Broadcast sound Engineer. I worked with Super Sports for almost a decade. I had the privilege to work on big production and concerts.

“So, after I left Super Sports, I started my own company 14011 (Fourteen O Eleven) Motion Picture, a media production outfit in Lagos as a Producer and a Director. While I was still with Super Sports, I won a scholarship from the Federal Government in 2015 to study Film Making in India. When I came back from India, I produced a short film titled ‘Drowning Fish’. I had the opportunity to produce a movie for a very good friend, Bola Oba titled ‘The In-laws’ where I got to work with artistes like Toyin Abraham, Dele Odule, Chris Attoh, Binta Ayo Mogaji, Charles Inoje, Woli Arole, Ngozi Nwosu and a host of other prominent talents. The movie went to the cinema and was a success.”
