Following confirmation by the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Dr. Stephen Odey as candidate for the Cross River North senatorial district by-election, there are indications that the internal wrangling that has bedeviled the party for a long time may be about to end.
Sources say that notable stakeholders within the party have decided to work together and ensure victory in the all-important poll.
Sentry also learnt that both Governor Ben Ayade and Odey, who is a former chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), are not leaving any stone unturned in their quest to ensure all party leaders are carried along in the race to win the senate seat back for the party.
While affirming the candidacy of Odey in Abuja earlier in the week, chairman of the panel, Taleb Tebite, advised Ayade and Odey to, in the larger interest of PDP, reconcile with aggrieved aspirants and those not in his support.
He was said to be speaking the mind of the Uche Secondus-led NWC as far as the Cross River PDP crisis is concerned. What is left to be seen is how long the new found cooperation between erstwhile warring factions will last.
