A 32-year-old okada rider, Tunde Adeniyi, has been remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly stealing church instruments worth N1.05 million in an Osun Church.
Adeniyi was sued to the Magistrates’ Court in Osogbo on two-count of burglary and stealing.
Police Prosecutor Taiwo Adegoke told the court that Adeniyi, on November 16, about 2am, broke into Christ Altar of Mercy Church, Ebunoluwa Area, Osogbo, and stole two sleeve musical, one mixer engine and one keyboard, totalled at N1,050,000 million. He said the offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 416 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
Adeniyi however pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Kazeem Adepoju, also made an oral bail application.
Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara ordered that the accused be remanded in correctional facility and adjourned the case till January 8, 2021.
