A maskless passenger on an American Airlines flight from Orlando to Philadelphia was taken into custody Thursday morning after he allegedly tried to talk to the pilot inside the cockpit and asked about a parachute while standing next to an exit door.

The incident occurred just before 9.30am while the aircraft was approaching Philadelphia International Airport.

According to NBC Philadelphia, the man asked ‘Where’s my parachute?’ as he walked from the back of the plane.

A witness said the flight attendant yelled for help and a few male passengers moved seats to protect the plane’s exit doors. At one point, the man reportedly climbed over the back of one seat.

He then spoke to a flight attendant and asked he if could speak to the pilot inside the cockpit.

American Airlines said in a statement that the man, who police have not identified, exhibited ‘erratic behavior’ and made ‘alarming statements’.

But the airline confirmed that the man never made it past first class and never tried to force his way into the cockpit area at any point.

According to NBC, another passenger heard the man tell the flight attendant: ‘I didn’t do anything … I just wanted to talk to him.’

Instead, after having the conversation with the flight attendant, the man ran quickly back to his seat.
