12 passengers aboard an American Airlines plane have incurred various degree of injuries after one of the engines of the plane caught fire at the Denver International Airport, Colorado, United States (US).
US aviation agency, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed via a statement that the incident occured on Thursday, March 13.
The statement read, “American Airlines Flight 1006, a Boeing 737-800 en route to Dallas-Fort Worth from Colorado Springs with 172 passengers and six crew aboard, diverted to Denver around 5:15 p.m. local time, after the crew reported engine vibrations.”
The FAA stated that the engine caught fire after the aircraft had landed and was taxiing towards the gate.
The pilot of the plane notified air traffic controllers before landing in Denver that the flight was experiencing engine issues.
However, he said it was not an emergency.
