53 year old man kills lion with bare hands in Benue

A 53-year-old man in Benue state, identified as Lorver Udele, has killed a Lion with bare hands.

Udele hails from Ajio clan in Shangev-Ya district of Kwande Local Government Area of the state.

He killed the lion on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Ngokugh mountains where it was said that a Nigerian Military Jet crashed in September 17, 2006, killing 13 out of 18 Army Generals on board.

Udele was working on his cassava farm on the Ngokugh mountains when he was attacked by the lion and in a bid to defend himself, he engaged the wild animal in a fierce battle that lasted for about ten minutes before he was able to kill it.

“I was working on my cassava farm at Ngokugh mountain and suddenly, I heard a sound like that of a lion roaring and advancing towards me.

“I was nervous. I summoned courage and confronted the Lion as it was coming towards me possibly to feast on me. It took about ten minutes during the struggle before I killed it,” he said.

Udele sustained varying degrees of injuries and was rushed to a Hospital at Adikpo area of the state where he was given treatment.
