The Bauchi Command of the Nigeria Police has arrested Kabiru Musa, also known as Dawa, who masterminded the killing of seven corps members, a police constable, during the 2011 election violence in Giade Local Government Area of the state.

Dawa, has been a constant source of terror to his community.

Recently, he and an accomplice allegedly murdered a woman and dumped her body in a well.

Speaking at the Command headquarters on Thursday, May 30, the Commissioner of Police for Bauchi Command, Auwal Mohammad, stated that women reported discovering an abandoned body in a well, leading to Dawa’s arrest.

“On 18th April 2011, between 12:30 and 13:00 hours, a group of youth led by Kabiru Musa, aka Dawa, stormed Giade Divisional Police Headquarters during the 2011 Presidential Election.

“Armed with dangerous weapons, including a knife known locally as Barandami, cutlasses, sticks, and petrol, they attacked Police Constable Rifkatu Bappa, who was on duty. She sustained severe injuries and was immediately evacuated to FMC Azare, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor,” Mohammad said.

Mohammad further explained that Dawa also killed a woman named Bridget, who had sought refuge in a police station, and burned her vehicle.

“Dawa and his gang used petrol to set ablaze a Toyota Starlet belonging to Mr. Peter Okoye, which was being kept for safekeeping during the attack. Dawa then attacked Bridget Peter Okoye, cutting off her fingers, and set fire to the vehicle and the station, leading to the gruesome murder of six corps members who were seeking safety at the station,” he stated.

The slain corps members were identified as Nkwazema Anslem (Imo State), Adewumi Seun Paul (Ekiti State), Okpokiri Obinna (Abia State), Teidi Olawale Tosin (Kogi State), Adewei Elliot (Bayelsa State), and Ukeoma Ikechukwu Chibuzor (Imo State).

They tried to escape but were pursued and murdered by Dawa and his gang.

According to the Commissioner, Dawa’s syndicate also broke into shops and stole valuables, further disrupting the community.

“After a decade-long manhunt, the suspect has been arrested and is under investigation. Upon conclusion, he will be arraigned in court based on the findings,” Mohammad stated.

In a related development, Dawa has been arraigned for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

On April 26,, the decomposed body of a 17-year-old girl named Aisha Mohammad was discovered in a well in Giade town.

During the investigation, two suspects were arrested, Kabiru Musa, aka Dawa, and Anas Adamu,  both from Giade LGA.

While Dawa denied the allegations, Adamu confessed, stating that they killed Aisha and dumped her body in the well.

The Commissioner concluded by affirming that the investigation is ongoing, and justice will be served based on the findings.
