Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, on Monday swore in 17 new commissioners, charging them to uphold transparency, accountability, and commitment in the discharge of their duties.

Speaking at the inauguration held at Government House, Makurdi, the governor urged the appointees to focus on effective service delivery and maintain close engagement with communities at the grassroots.

Alia emphasized the importance of openness in official conduct and strict adherence to the rule of law as foundations for good governance. He further highlighted teamwork as a driving force for his administration’s development agenda, stressing that the State Executive Council will be central to moving Benue forward.

The governor also encouraged the commissioners to strengthen public trust by keeping citizens regularly informed about government projects and spending.

On security, he reiterated that peace and stability remain vital for progress, adding that safeguarding lives and property would remain a top priority of his administration.

“Our administration is people-oriented. We want Benue to grow, and that requires transparency, accountability, and loyalty to the government,” the governor said.

“You must work visibly at the grassroots, leave a lasting mark, and give your best to the state.”
