The United States (US) Donald Trump issued a stark warning to Iran demanding unconditional surrender and calling its supreme leader an easy target.
US president Trump confirmed this via a post Truth Social,on Tuesday,June 17 claiming the US knows the whereabouts of Iran supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei but has opted not to target him yet.
This declaration follows previous calls from both Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Iranians to evacuate Tehran, pleas that have largely been unheeded.
Despite Trump’s assertive claims, Iran has continued its retaliatory actions against Israel, launching fresh missile attacks on Tuesday, June 17.
Since then, both nations have engaged in a continuous exchange of drone and ballistic missile attacks, despite growing international pleas for de-escalation.
The conflict has resulted in significant casualties, with over 200 Iranians and at least 24 Israelis killed in the ongoing hostilities.
Iran’s military chief, Abdolrahim Mousavi, urged residents of Haifa and Tel Aviv to evacuate, signaling impending punitive strikes.
Also Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Araghchi stated that if Trump is genuine about diplomacy and interested in stopping this war, next steps are consequential.
He said that “It takes one phone call from Washington to muzzle someone like Netanyahu, which could “pave the way for a return to diplomacy.”
Despite these claims of success, many believe the Israeli leader is actively pressuring Trump to draw the US into the conflict.
