Kamoru Ogunlana has been appointed the Clerk of the National Assembly by the National Assembly Service Commission.
The Chairman of the commission, Ahmed Amshi, said on Thursday that Ogunlana will oversee the affairs of the office of Clerk of the National Assembly to replace Magaji Tambuwal, the outgoing Clerk.
Ogunlana will start in an acting capacity before fully assuming the role in early 2025.
“As you proceed on your pre-retirement leave, Mr Kamoru Ogunlana will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Clerk to the National Assembly, while working closely with you to ensure smooth transition until he takes over from you as the Substantive Clerk to the National Assembly on 02/02/2025,” the letter announcing the appointment said.
Ogunlana was the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly until this appointment.
Tambuwal became Clerk in November 2022, succeeding Olatunde Ojo.
His appointment caused some controversy back then, as he was not the most senior official in the National Assembly management at the time.
