A tragic incident has struck the Nigerian football community as Akin Olowookere, the newly appointed coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), has passed away.

According to reports, Olowookere collapsed on the pitch during a training session with the team on Monday, August 11 morning in Ijebu-Ode.

Despite being rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention, he was declared dead upon arrival.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said Olowookere suddenly slumped while actively involved in the session.

His collapse prompted immediate attention from the club’s medical team, who quickly intervened before transporting him to a nearby medical facility.

Sadly, efforts to revive him proved unsuccessful.

Olowookere had only recently joined 3SC as part of the club’s new technical setup.

His appointment followed the dismissal of the coaching crew previously led by Gbenga Ogunbote.

Known for his calm and disciplined demeanor, Olowookere was seen as a promising addition to the Oluyole Warriors’ bench.

Before taking on a coaching role, Olowookere had a long and distinguished playing career, notably with Sunshine Stars of Akure.

After retiring from active football, he shifted his focus to coaching and had been steadily building a career on the sidelines.

Most recently, he served as an assistant coach under Edith Agoye, the former head coach of Sunshine Stars.

His sudden death has shocked the football community, with tributes pouring in from fans, players, and colleagues who admired his dedication and contribution to Nigerian football, both as a player and as a coach.
