A devastating fire at a nightclub in North Macedonia has claimed the lives of at least 50 people and left more than 100 injured.

The incident occurred at Pulse, a popular discotheque in Kocani, a town about 100 kilometers (60 miles) east of the capital, Skopje.

The nightclub was hosting a concert by DNK, a well-known hip-hop duo, with approximately 1,500 people in attendance.

The event, which began at midnight on Sunday, March 16, turned tragic when a fire broke out around 3 a.m. (0200 GMT).

Rescue teams rushed to the scene, transporting the injured to nearby hospitals in Kocani and Stip, about 30 kilometers away.

Authorities suspect that pyrotechnic devices used during the concert may have sparked the blaze, though an official investigation is still underway.
