Police arrest 5 kidnappers, rescue 2 victims in Kwara

    The Kwara state police command has arrested five suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims during a joint operation with local security outfits in Idofin Igbana, Oke-Ero local government area.

    The breakthrough followed swift collaboration between police operatives and the local government security initiative, who launched a coordinated search after receiving distress reports from residents.

    The incident occurred on Sartuday, August 30 at about 7:45 p.m. when three women, Ahmed Aminat, Mohammed Habibat, and Isah Aminat, were abducted in the Oke-Ile area of Idofin Igbana.

    According to SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the spokesperson for the Kwara State police command, operatives combed the surrounding bushes and tracked the suspects to the Ago Alu Fulani camp, located along the Idofin/Olla road.

    On sighting the advancing team, the kidnappers fled, abandoning two of their captives, while escaping with the third victim, Ahmed Aminat.

    Five suspects, Abubakar Seriki Juli, Mohammadu Bello, Abubakar Sodiq, Abubakar Bako, and another Mohammadu Bello, all residents of Idofin Aiyekale, were arrested at the camp.

    Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that one of the victims was able to clearly identify two of the suspects as part of the gang responsible for the abduction.

    She added that efforts are still underway to rescue the remaining victim and apprehend other members of the gang who are currently on the run.
