President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday approved the appointment of new members to the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.
Bayo Ojulari, a former Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company, SNEPCO, was appointed as the Group Chief Executive Officer, GCEO, of the NNPCL while seven others were also appointed to the board of the company.
The newly appointed board comprises seasoned professionals with extensive experience in the oil and gas sector. Below are the profiles of the seven other members appointed to the board of the NNPCL:
1. Musa Kida
A former Deputy Managing Director, DMD, at Total, Musa Kida is a seasoned professional in the energy sector. He currently serves on the boards of Transcorp and NewCross Petroleum, bringing vast corporate leadership experience to the NNPCL board.
2. Bello Rabiu
Formerly the Group Executive Director, GED, for Upstream at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, (now NNPCL). Rabiu is a key player in the industry. Prior to his appointment, he held a board position at SEPLAT, a leading indigenous oil company.
3. Yusuf Usman
An expert in gas and power, Yusuf Usman previously served as NNPCL’s GED for Gas and Power. Before his appointment to the NNPCL board, Usman served as the Chairman of RanoAcrette.
4. Babs Omotowa
A former Managing Director, MD, of the Nigeria LNG Limited, NLNG, Omotowa brings decades of expertise in the oil and gas sector. His extensive leadership experience at NLNG is expected to contribute to NNPCL’s strategic direction.
5. David Ige
Previously the GED for Gas and Power at NNPCL, Ige has also worked with Arthur Andersen. He is currently the Chairman of a Marginal Field company, leveraging his experience in gas commercialization and oilfield management.
6. Austin Avuru
A well-respected industry veteran, Austin Avuru was the former MD of SEPLAT. With previous roles at NNPCL, Allied Energy, and as the Founder and owner of Platform Petroleum, he brings an entrepreneurial perspective to the NNPCL board.
7. Henry Obih
A former GED for Downstream at NNPCL, Henry Obih has also worked with ExxonMobil. Currently serving on the board of two marginal field companies, he has a wealth of knowledge in petroleum product distribution and downstream operations.
