Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the visit of Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, as the dawn of a new chapter in Nigeria–Colombia relations.
Márquez, who arrived in Abuja on Saturday, August 30, for a three-day official visit, came with her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo Ocoró, alongside cabinet members, senior government officials, and business leaders.
The delegation is scheduled to meet with Nigerian counterparts across various sectors to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.
Speaking at a state dinner held on Sunday, August 31, at the Presidential Villa in her honour, Shettima said the visit signifies a partnership that will drive stronger political collaboration and ambitious economic initiatives between both nations.
He emphasized that the engagement is expected to open new opportunities for cooperation in governance, trade, agriculture, energy, education, and security, setting the stage for deeper strategic relations.
“The visit is proof that Nigeria and Colombia are about to enter an era of fraternal union that would create deeper political cooperation, bolder economic ventures, and richer people-to-people exchanges,” Shettima said.
