Terrorist attack claims 12 lives, leaves 17 homes destroyed in Kaduna (Graphic Photos)

    At least twelve individuals, including children, lost their lives in a terrorist attack in Gindin Duste Makyali of the Kufana District, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

    It was gathered that armed bandits stormed the community during the early hours of Sunday, February 18, indiscriminately shooting and setting ablaze at least 17 residential homes with the occupants still inside.

    The attack, which lasted for several hours without any visible presence of security forces, occurred merely 48 hours after another assault in Igabi and Kauru Local Government Areas, resulting in nine fatalities and 35 abductions.

    However, at least twelve residents were killed in the attack, with nine sustaining different degrees of injuries.

    The State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the death toll initially stood at nine, with two individuals succumbing to their injuries at a later time.

    In response to the distressing events, Governor Uba Sani denounced the renewed attack, emphasizing the government’s collaboration with security agencies to address security threats across the state.

    Governor Sani, who was represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, also expressed shock at the incident and directed the State Emergency Management Agency to promptly provide assistance to the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi Local Government Areas.

    Aruwan reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to combatting security challenges in Kaduna State, underscoring the importance of providing support and relief to impacted communities in the aftermath of such devastating attacks.

    “Governor Sani who has been leading meetings with security forces, condemned the attacks in strong terms and prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

    “He has directed the State Emergency Management Agency to, as a matter of urgency, to assist the affected communities in Kajuru and Igabi LGAs following the razing of some of their houses and valuables.

    “The governor further reiterated the government’s dedication and commitment to tackling the security challenges experienced across the state,” he stated.
