The All Progressives Congress, APC, has hailed its victory in the just-concluded local government elections in Rivers State, where it won 20 out of 23 chairmanship positions.

In a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party thanked the people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support.

According to the APC, the outcome of the polls reflects the growing trust in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda being championed by his administration.

“This victory is yet another unmistakable indication of the strong confidence of the people in the APC-led President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and its flagship. Renewed Hope Agenda to continue to deliver transformative and people-oriented governance at all levels in our country.”

The APC also rejected allegations of electoral malpractice raised by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing them as unfounded and inflammatory.

“Our great Party categorically rejects the incendiary and highly irresponsible allegations of foul play hurled by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over the Rivers State local government elections.

“Atiku’s tirade is no more than a smokescreen meant to distract the public from another miserable no-show record of his African Democratic Congress, ADC, and an attempt to stoke tension and strife over the Rivers local government election.”

The ruling party further commended the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC, and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful, transparent, and orderly conduct of the polls.

It also urged the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors to demonstrate dedication in office by providing impactful governance that will improve the lives of residents across the state.
