Mogaji Wole Arisekola has appealed to the President and commander-in-chief President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to make sure the news about his effort to bring hope to ordinary Nigerians was properly disseminated to the masses through the mass media.
Mogaji Arisekola who is the National Chairman of the Association of Online Media Practitioners in Nigeria, (AMPCON) also accused the opposition of playing politics with everything including national security, and the welfare of the masses as well as inciting the people against the President.
In an interview with newsmen in Lagos at a popular hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos late Thursday night, January 11, 2024, Arisekola stated that Tinubu’s humility, respect for the rule of law, and tolerance for the opposition have made him the best president to have ruled Nigeria.
“President Tinubu’s achievements started the very first day he officially assumed office on 29th of May 2023 when he announced the suspension of the conduit pipe of corruption known as petroleum subsidy payment, it was a bold decision of a leader who meant well for the citizenry. He is deliberate about exposing corruption and makes those culpable face the full weight of the law. Most recently, he suspended the National Co-ordinator and Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Halima Shehu, he also wielded the big stick by suspending Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, and asked about the corruption watchdog to investigate financial transactions involving these individuals. Dr Edu is the first minister to be suspended, less than six months after her appointment by the President.
“His Excellency also brought technocrats to his cabinet to the extent that a member of the opposition is even a cabinet member, giving room for the government of national unity and inclusiveness that is Tinubu he knows how to hunt for round pegs in round holes so that the job can be perfectly done. He has been moving from one country to the other to facilitate foreign direct investments, reduce poverty, and increase employment, gave out palliatives to cushion the effects of the petroleum subsidy removal. He is a true leader whose policy often wears a human face
“Sadly Mr President’s achievements have been highly underreported. The opposition that is playing politics with national security and the welfare of the people is not patriotic at all. The opposition that incites the people against the President cannot engender national cohesion, growth, and development.
He also accused some ministers of not doing their job or could not sell the government they were serving to the rural people.
Constant engagement of the media is very important in other to keep the masses abreast of happening in the country.
No matter the distractions, it is clear that Tinubu has done one thing his predecessors were not able to do; allowing the opposition to thrive. Tinubu’s humility, candor, and attentiveness stand him out of the pack of all other leaders that could guarantee the renewed hope agenda and the new Nigeria of our dream.
“I must also add that change and adapting to a quickly changing reality are inevitable. If we want to remain within the ranks of the advanced world, we need to match the speed at which the world is developing. We do not need the type of change that allows us to catch up with others; we need the type of change that allows us not only to win the present race, but lead to the next one, that is the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu style of leadership and of course, he has changed the trajectory of government in our country in a most positive way”.
“President Tinubu indeed has the enablement and coordinating capacity to make the right decision at the right moment. I usually tell people a leader can tip the balance between success and failure, overtake others, make something out of nothing, and improve a lot of his people while earning the respect of others. President Tinubu is a pathfinder, I am just surprised that his exceptional leadership style has been under-reported for reasons I couldn’t understand
So, beyond any peradventure of doubt, truth be told, President Tinubu remains a leader with the committed zeal and zest required in governance and indeed one of the best in Nigeria. His uncommon achievements as Governor of Lagos State speak volumes, to date while his legacies are unprecedented in the annals of history and I am doubly sure that he will do more as President because he possesses the capacity and ability to make a huge difference by making life even better for the common man on the street.
“I therefore call on the media to be socially responsible in discharging their constitutional roles by upholding their professional ethics and ethos this will serve our nation better and project the image of our nation positively to the international community, this is not too much a role to play as patriotic citizens and also as fourth estate of the realm, Nigeria belongs to all of us we must all play contributory role to her success. May God bless our nation.” Arisekola noted.
