Troops of 17 Brigade, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Monday, September 21, rescued seven abducted victims along the Dayi Malumfashi Road in Katsina state.
The rescue operation was conducted at about 11:45 p.m. when the security forces intercepted a green-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3 with registration number Kano BCH-528ZY, which was conveying the victims.
The rescued persons comprised six female students of the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, Katsina state, and the vehicle’s driver, identified as Sani Umar.
The victims were rescued during ongoing security operations along the route aimed at curbing kidnapping and other criminal activities in the area.
The troops and police operatives intercepted the vehicle while conducting operations along the route and subsequently secured the victims.
The rescued persons are currently receiving necessary attention as security personnel work to ensure their safety and establish the circumstances surrounding their abduction.
Troops remained on high alert and had maintained strong operational readiness across the area, particularly along major routes vulnerable to criminal activities.
The operation is part of sustained security efforts in Katsina state to protect motorists, commuters and residents from kidnapping and other forms of criminality.
Security agencies have continued to intensify patrols and surveillance along major roads in the state as part of measures to disrupt the activities of kidnappers and other criminal elements.
The authorities also reiterated their commitment to maintaining security across the affected areas and ensuring the safe return of kidnapped victims while efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the abduction.
