The group chief executive officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari, on Saturday, September 19, assured Nigerians of transparent pricing, accurate fuel dispensing and secure digital payments at the company’s newly commissioned smart self-service station.

Ojulari gave the assurance while discussing the strategic significance of the facility, its role in the company’s transformation agenda and plans to replicate the model across the country.

He said the smart self-service station marked an important milestone in the transformation of NNPC Limited and demonstrated how technology could improve the efficiency of its retail operations.

According to him, the facility supports NNPC Limited’s ambition to build a customer-focused and digitally enabled energy company that responds to the changing needs of Nigerians.

The smart station combines self-service fuelling and digital payments with other energy solutions, including electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and compressed natural gas (CNG).

Ojulari said the facility was more than a new type of filling station, describing it as a shift towards an integrated and technology-enabled energy retail experience developed with technology and retail partners.

He said the first smart station was being used as a proof of concept, with NNPC Limited focused on monitoring its operations, learning from customer experiences and refining the system before a wider rollout.

Ojulari said the expansion would be carried out in structured phases, subject to the outcome of the initial deployment.

He added that customer demand, location, infrastructure readiness and the availability of different energy solutions would guide the rollout.

On the reliability of the technology, Ojulari said the smart station had been designed to provide real-time monitoring of transactions and equipment performance.

He said dedicated maintenance and customer service processes had also been put in place to ensure that operational issues were identified and resolved promptly.

According to him, controls had been incorporated to support pricing accuracy, proper dispensing calibration and the security of digital payments.

Ojulari said NNPC Limited would continue to use operational data and direct customer feedback to improve the system.

He said the company’s objective was to ensure that every transaction was easy, secure and transparent, while customers received exactly what they paid for.
