Ten passengers lost their lives in the early hours of Saturday, January 14, after a bus crashed into a truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The incident occurred at about 4:30 am around Oniworo axis of the highway, involving a Toyota Haice bus marked KLD539XA and a Mack container truck with no registration number.

The spokesman of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Florence Okpe, while confirming the incident on Saturday morning, said that 19 persons were involved in the crash, out of which 10 persons died, Daily Trust reports.

Okpe added that two persons sustained injuries while others were rescued unhurt.

“The suspected causes of the crash were road obstruction on the part of the truck and excessive speed on the Toyota bus which led to loss of control and ran into the truck at the rear,” she said.

According to her, the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, Ogun state, for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at Ipara morgue.
