12 people, including a nine-year-old girl, were abducted along the Auchi-Ihievbe-Afuze Road connecting the local governments of Etsako West and Owan East in Edo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer affirmed that the state command headquarters was awaiting a thorough report from the Divisional Police Officer in the area, according to Chidi Nwabuzor.

Despite claims made by an unnamed local resident that two people were abducted and two others managed to escape, three abandoned vehicles were visible on the roadside.

There were three vehicles: a Mercedes ML 320 Jeep with the license plate AGD 542 GU, which had no occupants and doors that had been opened; a Toyota Sienna van with the license plate Kogi LKJ 464 YE; and a third vehicle, whose occupants had escaped.

Members of the neighborhood vigilante group had searched the area’s forest and bushes, as well as those in Warrake and other nearby communities, in an effort to find the victims.

The victims who included a child of around 9 years old, were abducted inside a sienna bus.

The passengers were ambushed with some of them, including a woman who managed to escape but was unable to take her daughter, who is said to be about 9 years old.

The Auchi Afuze road is known as a notorious route for kidnappers, but the situation was, however, curtailed with the presence of soldiers and local vigilantes before the present resurgence.
