No fewer than 14 people lost their lives, and 31 others sustained injuries in a road accident that occurred in Mexico on Sunday, April 28.
The incident unfolded in the state of Mexico, just outside the capital, when a bus overturned on the roadway, according to the local safety secretariat.
Preliminary reports indicate a death toll of 14, with 31 individuals injured.
This adds to the alarming trend of road accidents in Mexico, with 377,231 claims recorded in 2022 alone, according to the National Statistics Institute.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, at least 45 individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained serious injuries in a devastating bus accident in South Africa’s Limpopo province.
The incident unfolded on Thursday, March 28, as a bus, ferrying worshippers to an Easter conference, veered off a cliff along the treacherous Mamatlakala mountain pass between Mokopane and Marken.
Upon impact, the bus ignited, compounding the tragedy.
