The Catholic bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Bulus Yohanna, through his media aide, Daniel Atori, has confirmed that two parents of students abducted from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri village, Niger state, have died.
The deceased include a man identified as Anthony Musa, who reportedly died of a heart attack, and a woman whose cause of death remains unclear.
Bishop Yohanna, who is also the proprietor of the school and the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), said on Wednesday that the church has been unable to contact the family of the female parent to ascertain details surrounding her death.
“The man Anthony Musa died of heart attack but the female we don’t have the details yet because we couldn’t get the family,” he said.
According to reports, fifty of the recently abducted pupils have escaped from the terrorists and reunited with their families.
