About 16 individuals have been rescued with 29 still missing after a tourist boat sank off the coast of Egypt along the Red sea.
The Red Sea Governorate, Governor Amr Hanafi revealed that the incident took place in the late hours of Sunday, November 24.
The boat named Sea Story had left Porto Ghalib in Marsa Alam, Egypt, by 5:30 a.m which is 0330 Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) on Sunday, November 24 with plans to return to Hurghada Marina on Friday, November 29.
Towards the evening of Sunday, November 24, the boat which was carrying 45 people in total, including 31 tourists of various nationalities and 14 crew members, sank near the coastal town of Marsa Alam.
16 people have been rescued so far, some of them were airlifted by an helicopter and have been taken for medical treatment.
Although 29 people are still missing.
Search efforts to find the remaining passengers and crew members. are still ongoing.
