Three leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Kwara state were arrested on Tuesday, January 27, for sponsoring terrorists in the state.
The arrests followed a series of intelligence-led operations by security agencies aimed at dismantling criminal networks driving the recent surge in abductions across the state.
Among those taken into custody is the state chapter president, Idris Abubakar.
Preliminary investigations indicate that he and two other leaders played central roles in facilitating and funding the armed groups currently terrorizing residents.
The arrested individuals are currently undergoing interrogation, with authorities aiming to uncover the full scope of their involvement and identify possible collaborators.
Authorities emphasized that the operation targets persons suspected of criminal acts and is not directed against any ethnic or socio-cultural group.
Investigations remain ongoing, and further updates are expected as security agencies continue their probe.
