Troops under Sector Two of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have eliminated three Boko Haram fighters during a clearance operation in Borno Yesu, located near Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The mission, conducted in the Bulabulin Forest, involved a joint team made up of Sector Two ground forces, Nigerian Air Force personnel, Special Forces, and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Theatre Commander of OPHK, Abubakar, confirmed that the terrorists were killed following an intense firefight, with several others escaping the scene with gunshot wounds..
“Our troops, under close surveillance and guidance of the Air Component Command and with the support of the Civilian Joint Task Force, engaged Boko Haram elements during an operation in Bulabulin Forest. The troops killed three of them while others escaped with varying degrees of injuries,” Abubakar said.
Recovered from the scene were two newly acquired motorcycles, AK-47 rifles, four magazines loaded with ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm bullets, grenades, two bandoliers, and military-grade combat packs.
Abubakar stated that Sector Two troops, operating across parts of Borno and Yobe States, have maintained extended patrols and ongoing offensive operations, particularly around the Timbuktu Triangle, an area notorious for terrorist activity.
“Troops of Sector Two have been combing the forest around the Timbuktu Triangle. It is a hideout for terrorists, and many communities trapped there are now being liberated,” he added.
Abubakar added that Borno Yesu is among several communities previously ravaged by Boko Haram insurgents, but is now gradually being reclaimed through sustained military efforts and renewed security presence in the area.
