Six Nigerian Law School students who were kidnapped while traveling from Anambra to Adamawa State have been rescued, according to a statement by the Benue State Police Command.
Police spokesperson, Udeme Edet, confirmed on Friday, August 1, that the students, who were en route to the Yola Campus of the Nigerian Law School, were abducted on July 26 near the Benue Taraba border.
“The police have successfully rescued six law students of the Yola campus, who were abducted on July 26, 2025. They were traveling from Anambra to Adamawa when they were kidnapped. They have now been safely released and reunited with their families this morning, August 1, 2025,” the statement said.
The kidnappers had reportedly demanded a ransom of N120 million and threatened to kill the victims if their demands were not met.
This incident adds to growing concerns over security challenges in Benue State. Last year, 20 medical students heading to the University of Jos in Plateau State were kidnapped along the Otukpo-Otukpa-Enugu Road. They were released after several weeks in captivity.
