Terrorists launched fresh attacks in Shanga Local Government Area (LGA) of Kebbi state on Wednesday, December 31, killing nine people.
The latest attack occurred when the terrorists stormed Tungan Giwa village on Wednesday night, killing two residents and forcing others to abandon their homes in fear.
The Wednesday attack followed a series of deadly raids on Tuesday that left five people dead across multiple communities in the local government area.
According to residents, the terrorists killed five people in Kaiwa village, where they also set fire to the village head’s residence.
They then moved to Gebbe town on the same day, claiming one more life, before launching another attack on Gurwo town earlier on Wednesday, where one resident was killed.
Many families are said to have fled to Shanga town for safety, leaving behind livestock and farmlands.
Residents of the affected communities have appealed to the government to urgently deploy additional military and security personnel to protect civilians and restore peace to the area.
