Usman Mohammed, a 40 years old man, was arrested by men from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Gombe State Command, for luring 12 children ranging in age from five to ten years old.
Mohammed, a resident of Liji in the state’s Yalmatu Deba Local Government Area, allegedly specialized in having carnal knowledge of minors.
“When I was 18 years old, I learned about homosexuality from my almajiri scholar in Brigade, Kano State.
“I’m sorry for what I did, and I beg forgiveness,” he said.
He told journalists at the NSCDC state headquarters on Tuesday that as an 18-year-old Almajiri student in Kano, he was introduced to same-sex intercourse by his Islamic teacher.
The father of three expressed regret for his actions and begged forgiveness from the appropriate authorities.
Waziri Goni, State Commandant of the NSCDC, said the suspect confessed to the crime after interrogation, adding that he was introduced to homosexuality in order to become wealthy.
Unfortunately, he did not become wealthy.
“How can God bless someone who takes advantage of young boys?
He has three children and a wife, but he takes pride in raping children in order to make money, and he has remained a nail cutter,” Goni said.
Goni stated that one of the allegedly molested boys is still at large, while the rest are available.
Goni, while lamenting the rate of sexual violations, urged parents to take responsibility for their children, adding that, “nobody can take care of your children better than you”.
Parents must stop delegating responsibility to others.
