Abdullahi Usman, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), on Monday, February 10, resigned from his position.
A source familiar with the development said that Usman tendered his resignation on Monday night following deep personal reflection.
According to reports, the decision was entirely his and was not influenced by any boardroom conflict, leadership crisis, or external pressure.
During his tenure, Usman was said to have made significant contributions to improving corporate governance, institutional discipline, and operational stability at NAHCON.
He chose to step down quietly, believing it was in the best interest of the commission.
Usman was appointed NAHCON chairman by president Bola Tinubu in August 2024, following the sack of Jalal Arabi, who was under probe by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged mismanagement of the N90 billion presidential subsidy for the 2024 hajj.
