The impeachment was reportedly moved by Chukwudi Apugo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who represents Umuahia-East. Also, it was seconded by Okey Igwe of the PDP, who is representing the Umunneochi Constituency. The lawmakers are accusing Orji of gross misconduct and highhandedness. Reports said the Clerk of the House was not present to swear in the new speaker.
