The executive secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Abubakar Rasheed, has resigned his appointment.
Rasheed announced his resignation on Monday, June 26, while approving the issuance of a provisional license to Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, for the establishment of a university in Kabba, Kogi state.
He noted that he would be returning to Bayero University, Kano state, to continue as a lecturer.
It is pertinent to note that Rasheed was appointed as the NUC boss seven years ago during the tenure of the immediate past minister of education, Adamu Adamu.
Under his tenure, the commission approved the highest number of private universities across the country.
However, the university system witnessed the highest number of industrial actions during Rasheed’s tenure.
