Ngozi Ezeonu, veteran Nollywood actress, has denied the viral news alleging that she is dead.
Ngozi Ezeonu, a former journalist who is notable for her portrayal of archetypal mothers in Nollywood movies, starred in a 2012 movie titled Adesuwa, which earned her the best supporting actress nomination at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Actress Ngozi Ezeonu had shared a cryptic post on her Instagram page leaving her fans and followers confused a few days ago.
Ngozi Ezeonu posted a photo of a candlelight signaling the death of someone special, captioning the post, ‘A rare gem is gone.’ The post prompted wild speculations and queries from her followers.
One fan named ‘Assez’ asked, “Who died?” while others, like Ify Nnama and Klassio Queenie, dee_queen_empire, speculated about popular names, expressing their thoughts on who it might be.
However, few hours ago, the actress took to her Instagram account to share a video that dispels the wild rumour that is doing the round.
Ngozi Ezeonu explained that her previous post where she posted a candle was a tribute to a friend she recently lost.
She lamented that bloggers pushed out the fake and negative narrative that she had died.
Ngozi Ezeonu cautioned those fabricating falsehood for personal gains against spreading death rumours without proof and confirmation.
“I lost a very close friend of mine, I posted a candle, a half-burnt candle and they now put my picture on that candle and everybody is saying that I died.
“It is wrong. I am alive and healthy, please.
“In journalism, what you do when in doubt is you leave out. If you cannot get across to the person to at least confirm the story, you don’t post.
“Don’t do that, please. Don’t try it again. This is a new year, why would anybody want to hurt each other just because they want people to follow them?” Ngozi Ezeonu queried.
