The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), has disconnected power supply to the Niger state government house, the state house of assembly and the general hospital, Minna, the state capital, over an indebtedness of N1.8 billion.
Other important organizations disconnected included the Ibrahim Babangida (IBB) specialised hospital, state water board, and the state secretariat.
At the time of this report, power supply to all the various offices and departments had not been restored.
Officials of the AEDC were seen with ladders going around these offices to disconnect the power supply, according to The Vanguard.
The public relations officer of AEDC, Niger region, Mohammed Adamu, on Tuesday, October 11, confirmed the disconnection.
It’s worth noting that the AEDC first disconnected power supply to the state government facilities on April 20, 2022, over the inability of the state government to pay its current and outstanding debts.
