Terrorists have stormed Biresawa community in Tsanyawa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano state on Monday, abducting over ten residents.
Relatives of the victims reported that the attackers came from the neighboring Tsundu village, entering the community on foot and armed with guns on Monday.
A resident, whose family members were among those taken, said his wife, 17 year old daughter, his brother’s wife, and two other women were abducted.
“Up till now, there is no news on their whereabouts,” he said.
The affected communities in Tsanyawa LGA reportedly include Biresawa, Sarmawa, Yan Chibi, and Gano.
A resident of Yan Chibi community said the terrorists, estimated to be around 50, arrived on motorcycles and fired shots into the air, causing people to flee for safety.
He stated that the attackers also targeted neighboring communities and abducted additional people, bringing the total to over 10, though no fatalities have been reported.
Community members said they had alerted the police and military in advance after receiving prior warnings that the terrorists were moving toward the area.
They explained that security agencies had provided contact numbers for reporting such threats, which villagers used before the attack occurred.
The Kano state police command is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
