A man identified as Oyelade Lukman has been arrested by operatives of the Osun Amotekun Corps in Osun state for illegal possession of firearms.
The Osun Amotekun Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, said that the suspect was arrested in Ajijola Anabi Area of the state.
A statement by the security corps said that, “He (the suspect,) was apprehended in the middle of the night after a complaint was lodged against him by the residents of the area and the operatives of Amotekun swung into action and arrested him with the firearms.“
The Amotekun corps said that firearms found in his possession include, two locally fabricated rifles, one locally made revolver with loading capacity for seven rounds, cut to size barrel guns, and one locally made double barrel.”
The Amotekun commander also disclosed that during interrogation, the suspect made confessions to having perpetrated crimes and that the firearms were kept in his possession by a man identified as Taye Fumble, said to be a notorious thug in Ede.
He concluded by saying that the suspect had been handed over to the police for further investigation into his offences.
