The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 24 year old man identified as Muanaenye Chekwube Victor for kidnapping his friend and collecting a N5.3 million ransom.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, confirmed this via a statement stating that the Police operatives from Uli Divisional Police Headquarters on Thursday, June 26, apprehended Victor on Thursday, June 26 this uncovering his involvement in a kidnapping case.
Ikenga noted that the suspect and his gang members collected a N5.3 million ransom before the victim’s release.
He said that, “During interrogation, Victor confessed to orchestrating the kidnapping plot by luring his friend under the pretense of escorting him to visit another friend.
He noted that, “Victor’s criminal gang abducted his friend, while Victor pretended to be kidnapped himself to deflect suspicion”.
Ikenga further noted that, “While the suspects are currently undergoing interrogation regarding the incident, the operatives are prepared to advance their investigation upon processing the gathered information.”
