Photo/Twitter/TonyeCole1 National leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the attack on some of its leaders and members in Port Harcourt on Monday by suspected political thugs and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The party, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, described the attacks as barbaric and said they were aimed at frustrating efforts by its governorship candidate to obtain documents needed to exercise his constitutional right to challenge the governorship result. Morka decried the attacks, which took place during a visit to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office by Mr. Tonye Cole, the APC governorship candidate. Cole was accompanied by Deputy Governorship Candidate, Dr. Innocent Barikor; state Chairman of the party, Mr. Emeka Beke, and three other party officials. He alleged that without warning, thugs and supporters of the PDP descended on the party officials, inflicting injuries on them and damaging personal and party properties. He argued that the attack was premeditated, regretting that the police have not carried out any serious investigation. He called on the Inspector General of Police to order urgent and thorough investigation into the attacks. He said: “While we commend the swift response of security agencies, especially the police and the Nigerian Army in restoring peace and order, we call on the Inspector General of Police to order an investigation into this and previous incidents of violent attacks on leaders and members of our party in Rivers State and to bring the sponsors and perpetrators to justice.” 9 mins ago National leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the attack on some of its leaders and members in Port Harcourt on Monday by suspected political thugs and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). 2 hours ago The late former Chief of General Staff, Lt.-Gen.
