The Multinational Task Force on Friday disclosed that it repelled a dusk attack by Boko Haram terrorists who were trying to overrun markets in some communities close to Monguno and areas close to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in New Marte , along the Chadian border in Borno State.
Director of Defence Information, Major General Olukolade stated that items recovered from the terrorists included more than 50 assorted types of grenades. He also made it known that cordon and search operations are still going on in the area. He also disclosed that one of the specialised human butchers of the Boko Haram sect was arrested in the course of the operation.
The statement signed by Gen Olukolade reads in part: “the interrogation of captured terrorists from various locations has been yielding useful information as to their mode of operations. Among those in custody is a lead specialist in butchering human beings who insists he does not use firearms but daggers and cutlasses for his assignment.”
The General also stated that “more assaults and encounters are continuing in other identified locations as intelligence sources confirm the routes being used by the fleeing terrorists. Troops have been directed to sustain aggressive patrols in certain areas where terrorists’ actions are anticipated.”
