Troops of the Nigerian army have recorded major successes in ongoing nationwide operations, neutralizing terrorists, rescuing 67 kidnapped victims, and arresting 94 criminal suspects in two weeks.
Major general Olatokunbo Bello, director of defence media operations, gave the update in Abuja on Friday while reviewing activities conducted by troops between 3rd and 14th November.
He said the operations spanned all six geopolitical zones and targeted terrorists, bandits, oil thieves, and other criminal networks.
According to him, forces under Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) pushed deeper into Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) strongholds in Borno and Adamawa states, where several fighters were neutralized.
Security agents also detained 45 individuals accused of supplying logistics or gathering intelligence for the groups and one person held captive by insurgents was rescued.
In the north-west, troops deployed under Operation Fagge Yamma confronted armed groups in Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kebbi and Kano states.
Bello said several gunmen were killed during the encounters, while two suspects were taken into custody and 13 kidnapped victims were freed.
Soldiers also seized weapons, vehicles and rustled livestock.
The military also reported heightened activity in the north-central corridor.
Troops under Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) intervened in multiple attacks in Plateau and Kaduna states, killing extremists, arresting 16 suspects and recovering five abducted persons.
A wanted gang leader, identified as Ibrahim Wakili, was captured in Sanga local government area of Kaduna on November 9.
Further south, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) recorded breakthroughs in Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states.
Ten suspects were arrested, several criminal elements were neutralized and 48 kidnapped victims regained their freedom.
Troops also intercepted two gunrunners and two alleged extremist collaborators in Nasarawa state.
In the Niger Delta, operatives under Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) disrupted oil theft operations valued at more than ₦15.8 million.
Bello said illegal refining sites were dismantled and nine suspects were arrested in Bayelsa and Delta states.
Troops under Operation Udo Ka (OPUK) sustained pressure on armed groups in the south-east, where one suspect was killed and seven others arrested in raids across Imo, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
Bello praised the troops for what he described as consistent, coordinated pressure on criminal networks, and urged journalists to maintain accuracy in reporting security matters to support national efforts.
